The Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins will match up on the MLB diamond to kick off their series Monday.

Boston is coming off a set versus the Orioles this weekend. The Sox took victories 13-2 Friday and 7-2 Saturday in that set, then on Sunday the Sox completed the sweep with an 8-6 extra-innings win.

For the Monday game, the Sox are going with RHP Rick Porcello in the start. Over his 4-6 record and 4.69 ERA, Porcello has 66 Ks so far.

Over on the Twins’ side, they’re coming out of a series against the Royals this weekend. Minnesota won 2-0 Friday and 5-4 Saturday there, and in the Sunday finale Minnesota fell 8-6.

For Monday’s outing, the Twins are rolling with Jose Berrios in the starting role. Berrios is 8-2 with a 3.01 ERA and 84 Ks this year.

The Sox are 6-0 in their last six road games and 4-0 in the last four overall. Boston is 12-5 in their last 17 Monday games and 7-2 in their last nine versus the AL Central.

Meanwhile, the Twins are 4-0 in their last four versus a team with a winning record and 38-15 in their last 53 overall. Minnesota is 53-22 in their last 75 home games and 17-7 in their last 24 in game one of a series.

Porcello is coming off 6.2 innings with two runs against the Rangers, and he’s got a 3.83 ERA in 31 career starts against Minnesota. He’s been much better after a rough start.

As for Berrios, he didn’t have a great May, but does have four straight quality starts and has rebounded nicely as well.

Still, any time I get odds this good on Boston I have to take them.
