|Date & Time||Thursday May 31, 2018, 8:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Minnesota Twins +110 / Cleveland Indians -120 --- Over/Under: 9
The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins will be kicking off their weekend MLB series on Thursday from Target Field.
The Indians are coming off a set versus the White Sox. After winning the first two games 9-6 and 7-3, on Wednesday Cleveland won 9-1.
The Indians will be promoting Shane Bieber to make his debut in a spot start on Thursday. Bieber has a 1.10 ERA with 61 Ks in the minors this year.
Francisco Lindor tops the Indians’ hitters this year with 67 hits, 41 runs, 12 homers and 30 RBI heading into Wednesday. In the Sox finale, Yonder Alonso put up three hits and a run.
As for the Twins, they just finished up against the Royals. After splitting the first pair of games, in the Wednesday finale Minnesota lost 11-8
Minnesota is going with RHP Jake Odorizzi on Thursday. In his 59.1 innings and 3-2 record this year, Odorizzi has a 3.34 ERA with 58 Ks and 24 BBs.
Entering the Royals finale, the Twins’ leading hitter was Eddie Rosario with 60 hits, 30 runs and 32 RBI. In the Wednesday game, Rosario had two hits and a run.
The Indians are 41-15 in their last 56 Thursday games and 2-7 in their last nine during game one of a series. The over is 5-0 in the Indians’ last five Thursday games and 10-2 in their last 12 in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Twins are 4-10 in their last 14 in game one of a series and 0-5 in Odorizzi’s last five starts in game one of a series. The under is 20-7 in Minnesota’s last 27 Thursday games and 5-0 in Odorizzi’s last five home starts.
Odorizzi had a good run of three starts going before giving up three earned on seven hits over 5.1 innings in a no-decision in Seattle his last time up. Bieber is something of an enigma, as he’s looked pretty good in Double- and Triple-A but the team probably won’t leave him out there too long regardless. This might be a spot for the Twins to sneak out a win, but it’s probably one to stay away from.
