Minnesota Twins -229 / Kansas City Royals +209 O/U: 9.5
The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins will be meeting up to continue their MLB series Saturday.
In the Friday edition of this set, The Twins banged out two runs in the eighth inning and held on for a 2-0 win.
For Saturday’s game, the Royals will be sending out Glenn Sparkmann in the start. Over his 37.2 innings and 1-2 mark this year, Sparkmann has 21 Ks and nine walks.
KC couldn’t get much going on Friday offense-wise, and managed just two hits on the night. Whit Merrifield and Billy Hamilton each had one knock.
Over on the Twins’ side, they’re going with Jake Odorizzi in the start Saturday. In 70.1 innings and a 9-2 record so far, Odorizzi has a 1.92 ERA with 78 Ks and 22 BBs.
Minnesota put up just four hits on the evening Friday, but made them count. The major contribution was Mitch Garver’s two-run homer in the eighth that won the game for the Twins.
The Royals are 5-16 in their last 21 in game two of a series and 0-6 in their last six Saturday games. The under is 5-0 in the Royals’ last five in game two of a series and 3-1-2 in their last six Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Twins are 10-2 in their last 12 Saturday games and 9-0 in Odorizzi’s last nine starts on grass. Minnesota is 13-3 in Odorizzi’s last 16 starts and 1-4 in his last five Saturday starts.
Sparkman had a bad start at Guaranteed Rate last month, but in the two games since then he’s pitched well on three earned, 11 hits and 12.0 innings. Sparkmann doesn’t have a win since May 1, but he was mostly in relief in that time.
As for Odorizzi, there really isn’t much to complain about right now. He’s got just one earned in his last four starts over a span of 23.1 innings and is 3-0 in that time. I like Odorizzi to keep it going here so I’m taking the Twins.
