The Los Angeles Angels and the Minnesota Twins meet in the rubber match of their three game set in MLB action from Target Field on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to bound back and win the set after dropping game two on Tuesday by a final score of 4-1. Shohei Ohtani went 3 for 4 with an RBI while David Fletcher had an RBI and a double while going 2 for 3 at the dish. Tommy La Stella went 2 for 5 while Andrelton Simmons, Albert Pujols, Brian Goodwin and Jonathan Lucroy each had base hits as well in the losing effort for the Halos. Cam Bedrosian took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year despite just pitching in the first inning. Trevor Cahill will start the finale and is 2-3 with a 6.35 ERA and 32 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cahill is 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA and 26 strikeouts against Minnesota.

The Minnesota Twins will look to win the series as well after evening up the series at one win apiece on Tuesday. Mitch Garver had a home run and two RBIs while Eddie Rosario and Byron Buxton each had RBIs to round out Minnesota’s scoring as a team in the win with Buxton adding a double. Marwin Gonzalez had a double while Jonathan Schoop, Max Kepler and Jorge Polanco each contributed base hits as well in the victory. Kyle Gibson got the win on the mound to improve his record to 4-1 after allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Jake Odorizzi will start game three and is 5-2 with a 2.32 ERA and 43 strikeouts this season. In his career, Odorizzi is 0-3 with a 6.04 ERA and 20 strikeouts against the Angels.

Los Angeles is 11-3 in their last 14 games against the AL Central and 18-38 in their last 56 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 3-0-2 in their last 5 road games. Minnesota is 5-0 in Odorizzi’s last 5 starts and 10-2 in Odorizzi’s last 12 home starts while the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games overall. The under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

Odorizzi hasn’t had much luck in his career against the Angels, but all the Twins’ righty has done over the last month is win games, going 5-0 with a 0.86 ERA over his last five starts, spanning 31.1 innings. Odorizzi has also not allowed a run in three straight starts, pushing his scoreless streak to 20 innings. Cahill was good in his last start, but I need to see more than a win over the lowly Orioles before instilling faith in a pitcher that allowed 19 runs in 15.2 innings in his previous four starts. The quick turnarounds usually favor the home team and the price isn’t bad either so I’ll lay the juice with Minnesota in this spot.
