The New York Mets and the Minnesota Twins will match up to kick off their series in MLB activity Tuesday.

The Mets just finished off a series this weekend versus the Marlins. New York dropped Friday’s game 8-4, but won on Saturday 4-2 and again on Sunday 6-2 for a series victory.

For the Tuesday game, the Mets will send out Zack Wheeler for the start. Over his 119.0 innings and 6-6 record so far this year, Wheeler has a 4.69 ERA with 130 Ks and 34 BBs.

Over on the Twins’ side, they’re fresh out of a set versus the Indians. Minnesota won on Friday 5-3 and Saturday 6-2, but couldn’t finish off the sweep after a 4-3 defeat Sunday.

Minnesota will be going with Michael Pineda in the start on Tuesday. Across 92.2 innings and a 6-4 mark so far, Pineda has a 4.56 ERA with 84 Ks and 16 BBs.

The Mets are 9-3 in their last 12 Tuesday games and 5-11 in their last 16 overall. New York is 5-17 in their last 22 in game one of a series and 4-1 in Wheeler’s last five Tuesday starts.

Meanwhile, the Twins are 7-2 in their last nine Tuesday games and 9-3 in their last 12 after an off day. Minnesota is 36-16 in their last 52 home games and 5-1 in Pineda’s last six starts.

Wheeler had a run of three consecutive quality starts going, logging four earned in 19.1 innings combined, but faltered a bit his last time up with 5.0 innings and six earned on eight hits.

As for Pineda, he has three quality starts in his last four games, and is 2-0 with just two earned in 12.0 innings over his last pair of outings. This should be a fun pitching matchup but I like Pineda to keep it going here and help the Twins win.

Pick:
Minnesota Twins -138
