Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Minnesota Twins meet Wednesday in MLB action at Target Field.

The Pittsburgh Pirates could use a victory here after splitting their last eight games. The Pirates have allowed nine runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 13 games. The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost five of their last seven games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Corey Dickerson leads the Pirates with 115 hits and 46 RBI while Starling Marte and Josh Bell have combined for 214 hits and 111 RBI. Chris Archer gets the ball, and he is 4-5 with a 4.36 ERA and 111 strikeouts this season. Archer is 6-1 with a 1.96 ERA and 59 strikeouts in his career against the Twins.

The Minnesota Twins could also use a win after losing five of their last eight games. The Twins have scored 11 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last 11 games. The Minnesota Twins have won six of their last eight games when scoring at least three runs. Eddie Rosario leads the Twins with 139 hits and 67 RBI while Max Kepler and Joe Mauer have combined for 183 hits and 96 RBI. Jose Berrios gets the ball, and he is 11-8 with a 3.66 ERA and 153 strikeouts this season. This will be Berrios’ first career game against the Pirates.

The Pirates are 20-6 in their last 26 interleague games, 9-3 in their last 12 Wednesday games and 19-9 in their last 28 overall. The Twins are 14-4 in their last 18 home games, 19-7 in Berrios' last 26 home starts and 2-5 in Berrios' last 7 interleague starts. The over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Minnesota and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

The move from Tampa Bay to Pittsburgh hasn't helped Archer yet in two starts, but he's still a guy with great stuff and is capable of showing flashes of being the pitcher he was a couple of years ago. Berrios has been really solid for the Twins all season long, but that hasn't stopped them from losing five of his last eight starts. The Minnesota Twins simply aren't a good baseball team. We're getting the better team and more proven pitcher for plus money. Give me the Pirates on the road.
