Minnesota Twins -106 / Tampa Bay Rays -104 O/U: 10
The Tampa Bay Rays and the Minnesota Twins will meet up on the MLB circuit Thursday to finish up their series.
In the Tuesday game, the Twins banged out a 9-4 win. On Wednesday, Minnesota kept it going with a 6-4 victory.
For the Thursday matchup, the Rays are rolling out Ryne Stanek as the opener. Stanek is 0-1 with a 2.47 ERA and 47 Ks this year.
Tampa Bay put up six hits in the Wednesday game but couldn’t catch up to Minnesota’s three-spot in the first inning. Austin Meadows led the way with two hits and a run for the Rays.
Over on the Twins’ side, they’re going with Martin Perez in the start. Across his 82.0 innings and 7-3 record this year, Perez has a 4.28 ERA with 76 Ks and 37 BBs.
Minnesota logged 10 hits in the victory on Wednesday. Nelson Cruz had a great night with three hits, three RBI and a run to pace the Twins hitters.
The Rays are 3-13 in their last 16 in game three of a series and 13-6 in their last 19 road games versus a left-handed starter. Tampa is 2-5 in their last seven overall versus a lefty starter and the under is 5-1-3 in their last nine in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Twins are 22-6 in their last 28 in game three of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Thursday games. The over is 5-0 in Perez’s last five starts on grass and 6-0 in his last six overall.
Perez hasn’t been spectacular over his last three starts, but he’s been consistent. In each of his last three games, he’s allowed exactly four earned runs. That makes 12 earned in a total of 16.2 innings for Perez, and he only lost one of those games thanks to solid offensive efforts.
In any case, that’s probably ballpark for Perez, and if he’s not totally on point here I think the Rays will take it.
