The Line: Minnesota Twins -110 / Tampa Bay Rays +100 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Headed our way from Target Field on Friday, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Minnesota Twins will be continuing their MLB set.
In the opener on Thursday, the Twins took a 5-1 victory.
For the Friday game, the Rays will be going with RHP Nathan Eovaldi. In his 48.1 innings and 3-3 mark this year, Eovaldi has a 3.25 ERA with 44 Ks and six walks.
Matt Duffy is the leading hitter for the Rays this year on 93 hits, 30 runs and 25 RBI coming into this set. In game one, Jake Bauers had three hits.
Over on the Twins’ side, they’re rolling with Jake Odorizzi on Friday. Across 96.2 innings and a 4-6 mark this season, Odorizzi has a 4.28 ERA with 102 Ks and 44 BBs.
Tops on offense for the Twins coming into this series is Eddie Rosario, who entered this series on 107 hits, 59 runs, 18 homers with 54 RBI. In the opener, Rosario hit a two-run homer.
The Rays are 7-0 in their last nine in game two of a series and 2-5 in their last seven Friday games. Tampa is also 2-5 in Eovaldi’s last seven starts and 1-4 in his last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Twins are 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series and the over is 17-6-3 in the last 26 Friday games. The under is 4-1-1 in Odorizzi’s last six starts in game two of a series and 5-1-1 in his last seven starts versus a team with a winning record.
Eovaldi is sitting on three straight quality starts, during which he’s allowed just two earned in 19.0 innings. As for Odorizzi, he’s given up two earned over his last three starts in a span of 17.0 innings. This should be a fun pitching matchup and a close game, but I’m giving a slight edge to the Rays.
