The Line: Minnesota Twins -164 / Texas Rangers +154 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Coming up on Saturday from Target Field, the Texas Rangers and the Minnesota Twins will be continuing their MLB series.
In the Friday opener, the Rangers scored four runs in the ninth inning on the way to an 8-1 blowout.
For Saturday’s game, the Rangers will be bringing out RHP Yovani Gallardo. In his 7.1 innings this year, Gallardo has a 15.95 ERA with six Ks and seven walks.
Texas’ top hitter coming into this set was Shin-Soo Choo with 78 hits, 45 runs, 13 homers and 32 RBI. On Friday, Choo ripped a homer with three RBI and two runs.
Over on the Twins’ side, they’re rolling with Jake Odorizzi on Saturday. Across 78.0 innings and a 3-4 mark this season, Odorizzi has a 4.38 ERA with 77 Ks and 35 BBs.
Leading the way on offense for Minnesota this season is Eddie Rosario, with 89 hits, 52 runs, 16 homers and 46 RBI entering this set. In the opener, Rosario went 0-for-4.
The Rangers are 9-2 in their last 11 in game two of a series and 4-0 in Gallardo’s last four starts. Texas is also 4-1 in Gallardo’s last five Saturday starts and 4-1 in his last five starts with five days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the twins are 4-1 in Odorizzi’s last five starts in game two of a series and 1-4 in his last five starts. Minnesota is also 1-4 in Odorizzi’s last five starts on grass and the under is 4-1 in the Twins’ last five in game two of a series.
In his first start of the year, Gallardo had some issues with Colorado, putting up 5.0 innings with six hits and five earned. As for Odorizzi, he hasn’t won a game since May 8, and has put up nine earned in his last 15.0 innings across three starts. I’m giving the Rangers a slight advantage here, but the play might be the over.
