MLB | Miami Marlins (12-14) at Washington Nationals (13-14)

The Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals play a rubber game Wednesday afternoon.

The Miami Marlins look for a win after winning five of their last seven games. The Marlins have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and three or less runs in 10 of their last 12 games. The Marlins have won 12 of their last 13 games when allowing three or less runs. Offensively, Dee Gordon leads Miami with 46 hits and 11 RBI while Giancarlo Stanton and Adeiny Hechavarria have combined for 40 RBI. The Miami Marlins have split their last six games on the road. Tom Koehler gets the ball, and he’s 2-2 with a 4.67 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. Koehler is 3-3 with a 3.22 ERA and 19 strikeouts in his career against the Nationals.

The Washington Nationals look to stay hot after winning six of their last eight games. The Nationals have allowed six runs in their last three games and three or less runs in four of their last six games. The Nationals have won five of their last seven games when allowing three or less runs. Offensively, Yunel Escobar leads Washington with 28 hits and seven RBI while Ryan Zimmerman and Bryce Harper have combined for 32 RBI. The Washington Nationals have split their last eight games on their home field. Max Scherzer takes the hill, and he’s 1-3 with a 1.26 ERA and 39 strikeouts this season. This will be Scherzer’s second career game against the Marlins.

The Marlins are 7-2 in their last 9 vs. a team with a losing record and 3-8 in Koehlers last 11 starts with 4 days of rest. The Nationals are 54-22 in their last 76 home games vs. a team with a losing record and 24-11 in their last 35 during game 3 of a series. The Marlins are 4-9 in the last 13 meetings.

The same reason I backed the Marlins yesterday is the same reason I'm hoping on board today. The fish are getting insane plus money against a Nats team that has issues scoring. The lack of offense has also come in most of Scherzer's starts. Give me the road dog and the better team overall.
