The Line: New York Mets -130 / Atlanta Braves +120 --- Over/Under: 7
The Atlanta Braves look to leave the Big Apple with a victory versus the New York Mets.
If you follow the Atlanta Braves then you know many of the faces have changed so challenging in the National League East is a stretch. Right now the Braves have the misfortune of running in to the Mets who are the hottest team in the game. The Braves bats couldn’t help out their pitching Wednesday in a 3-2 loss at Citi Field. Eric Stults allowed a run on four hits over six frames before Cody Martin served up a solo homer to blow the save with Jim Johnson allowing an 8th inning run to take the loss. There were runners on eight hits and a trio of BB but not much scoring with Alberto Jose Callaspo and Andrelton Simmons driving in runs. Atlanta gives the ball to their ace Julio Teheran in the last game of the series at Citi Field. Teheran struggled in his last outing with five runs plated on seven hits including four homers in an 8-7 win versus Toronto.
The New York Mets might not be the best team in the game but they are the hottest and we’ll see if they are in fact the best team as only time will tell. The Mets offense stalled Wednesday but the work on the mound made up for it by making little support work. Starter Dillon Gee gave up both runs on eight hits and a walk in a no decision effort while three relievers putting up zeros. The NYM mustered seven hits and walked three times with Wilmer Flores going 2-4 with a homer and two RBI’s while Lucas Duda singled in a run. Bartolo Colon shoots for a perfect 4-0 start in 2015 when the takes the hill versus Atlanta on Thursday. Colon knocked off Miami 4-1 in his last start with the lone run plated on a solo homer in seven frames.
The Braves are 7-2 in their last 9 road games and 9-4 in their last 13 games as an underdog while going 5-11 in their last 16 Thursday games. The Mets are 10-1 in their last 11 home games and 13-3 in their last 16 overall while going 13-3 in their last 16 games on grass. The under is 6-2 in Teheran’s last 8 starts versus the Mets. Teheran has thrown well versus the Mets but I’ll ride the hot team and hot pitcher…
