New York, New York
New York Mets -120 / Atlanta Braves +110 O/U: 8.5
The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets will match up on the MLB diamond Sunday to finish their series.
In the Friday opener of this set, the Braves managed a 6-2 win. On Saturday, Atlanta squeezed out a 5-4 win after two runs in the eighth.
For Sunday’s matchup, the Braves will be sending out Max Fried in the start. Across his 88.2 innings and 9-3 mark so far, Fried has a 3.96 ERA with 84 Ks and 27 BBs.
Atlanta put up 13 hits in the Saturday win. Leading the way were Ronald Acuna and Dansby Swanson, who each had three hits and combined for three runs and an RBI.
Over on the Mets’ side, they’re rolling with Noah Syndergaard on Sunday. Over 95.0 innings and a 5-4 record this year, Syndergaard has a 4.55 ERA with 93 Ks and 24 BBs.
The Mets logged eight hits in the loss Saturday. New York’s Ahmed Rosario was one of the top hitters with two knocks and two runs.
The Braves are 5-0 in Fried’s last five road starts and 5-0 in his last five starts overall. Atlanta is 5-0 in Fried’s last five Sunday starts and 5-2 in his last seven versus the NL East.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 3-9 in their last 12 Sunday games and 15-6 in Syndergaard’s last 21 Sunday starts. New York is 11-5 in Syndergaard’s last 16 home starts and the under is 8-0 in their last eight Sunday games.
Fried stumbled against Philly earlier this month, but in his two starts since he’s allowed just four earned on 10 hits in 12.0 innings—and one of those starts was at home versus the Mets.
As for Syndergaard, he had a string of three quality starts snapped his last time out but was still solid on four earned, six hits and a win in 6.0 innings of work versus the Cardinals.
This game seems to be something of a coin flip, but I like Fried and the Braves just a little better here—and the current team win/loss trends on both guys agree.
