|Date & Time||Wednesday September 26, 2018, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: New York Mets -160 / Atlanta Braves +135 --- Over/Under: 7
The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets will be meeting up at Citi Field on Wednesday in MLB activity.
In the opener on Tuesday Atlanta scored four runs in the seventh and three in the eighth for a 7-3 victory.
Sean Newcomb will be coming out for the Braves on Wednesday. Across his 158.1 innings and 12-9 record this year, Newcomb has a 4.04 ERA with 151 Ks and 76 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Braves this year is Freddie Freeman, with 186 hits, 94 runs, 23 homers and 95 RBI entering this set. On Tuesday, Freeman bagged one hit.
Over on the Mets’ side, they’re going with Jacob deGrom on Wednesday. In his 209.0 innings and 9-9 record this year, deGrom has a 1.77 ERA with 259 Ks and 46 BBs.
New York’s lead hitter is Amed Rosario, who came into this series with 139 hits, 76 runs and 50 RBI. In game one, Rosario came up empty.
The Braves are 6-2 in their last eight Wednesday games and 4-0 in Newcomb’s last four road starts. Atlanta is also 1-4 in Newcomb’s last five Wednesday starts and 1-5 in his last six starts in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 6-1 in their last seven Wednesday games and 1-4 in deGrom’s last five home starts. New York is 13-30 in their last 43 in game two of a series and 3-10 in deGrom’s last 13 starts versus the NL East.
Newcomb has had some mixed results over his last four games. In two of those, he’s given up 11 earned in 7.0 innings; in the other two he had four earned in 10.1 innings. As for deGrom, this will be his last chance to offer up Cy Young Award numbers. I think the Mets will play well behind him, so I’m going New York.
