Coming up on Saturday from Citi Field, the Colorado Rockies and the New York Mets will be continuing their MLB series.

In the Friday opener, the Rockies scored five times in the top of the first inning and were able to hold on for a tense 8-7 win.

For Saturday’s game, the Rockies will be rolling with RHP Chad Bettis. In his 37.0 innings and 3-1 record this season, Bettis has a 2.43 ERA with 25 Ks and 13 BBs.

Coming into this set, the Rockies’ top two hitters were DJ LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado, each with 31 hits and a combined 31 RBI. On Friday, Arenado came up with two hits, two runs and an RBI.

Over on the Mets’ side, they’re going with Steven Matz on Saturday. Over his 21.2 innings and 1-2 record so far, Matz has a 4.98 ERA with 26 Ks and 10 BBs.

The Mets’ Asdrubal Cabrera led the team coming into this series with his 36 hits, 20 runs, five homers and 17 RBI. On Friday, Cabrera had a triple, a homer and three RBI.

The Rockies are 5-1 in their last six during game two of a series and 6-1 in Bettis’ last seven starts in game two of a series. Colorado is also 5-2 in Bettis’ last seven starts and 13-3 in his last 16 starts versus the NL East.

Meanwhile, the Mets are 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series and 4-9 in Matz’s last 13 home starts. NY is also 4-10 in Matz’ last 14 starts and 0-5 in his last five starts versus the NL West.

Bettis has one “blah” game mixed in with some very good starts this year—in all but one outing he’s allowed two earned or fewer. Matz, meanwhile, has allowed three earned in each of his last three starts and has only made it to the sixth inning in one of those games. I’m going to have to stick with the hot hand here in Bettis, so I’ll take the Rockies.
