The Line: New York Mets -188 / Miami Marlins +177 --- Over/Under: 7
At Citi Field on Wednesday, the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets are finishing up their MLB series with game three of the set.
In the opener of this set, the Mets secured a 2-0 win on Monday. On Tuesday, the Marlins scored three times in the second inning on the way to a 5-1 win.
For the Wednesday game, the Marlins will be bringing out RHP Dan Straily. In his 20.0 innings and 2-0 record this year, Straily has a 3.60 ERA with 14 Ks and 14 BBs.
Heading up the Marlins attack coming into game two was Starlin Castro with 53 hits, 26 runs and 20 RBI. On Tuesday, Castro had one hit.
Over on the Mets’ side, they’re going with RHP Jacob deGrom on Wednesday. Over his 51.1 innings and 4-0 mark this season, deGrom has a 1.75 ERA with 69 Ks and 14 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Mets this year is Asdrubal Cabrera, with 53 hits, 25 runs, seven homers and 27 RBI entering game two. On Tuesday, Cabrera went 0-for-4.
The Marlins are 3-8 in their last 11 Wednesday games and 0-4 in their last four during game three of a series. Miami is also 5-0 in Straily’s last five starts and 4-1 in his last five starts with four days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 0-4 in their last four Wednesday games and 2-7 in deGrom’s last nine home starts. New York is also 2-5 in their last seven in game three of a series and 0-4 in deGrom’s last four starts in game three of a series.
Straily had a couple of rough starts going there, but has been better recently and gave up just three hits and no earned in 7.0 innings his last time up. As for deGrom, he’s been very good lately and held the D-Backs to one earned on six hits in 7.0 innings his last time out. This should be a fun pitching matchup, but I trust deGrom and the Mets a little more here. The under makes sense as well.
