The Line: New York Mets -123 / Philadelphia Phillies +113 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies face off on Sunday at Citi Field as they wrap up their series.
The New York Mets never got it together on Saturday as they took the loss against the Phillies. Matthew den Dekker had two hits and Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores each had hits as the Mets scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed nine hits and six runs while striking out two over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 12-11 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Mets start Dillon Gee who got a win in his last start to end a five decision losing streak. For the season Gee has allowed 89 hits and 45 earned runs while striking out 71 over 107.1 innings for a 5-6 record and a 3.77 ERA.
The Philadelphia Phillies are looking at a tough off-season but they had plenty to cheer about on Saturday as they pounded their rivals the Mets. Marlon Byrd hit a home run, Cody Ashe had three hits, and Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Ruiz each had two hits as the Phillies scored seven runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Jerome Williams allowed four hits and two runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 3-0 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Phillies start A.J. Burnett who got a win in his last start to end a six decision losing streak. For the season Burnett has allowed 168 hits and 85 earned runs while striking out 157 over 178 innings for a 7-14 record and a 4.30 ERA.
New York is 4-1 in their last five games as a favorite, 4-10 in their last 14 home games, and 2-6 in Gee’s last eight starts. Philadelphia is 5-1 in their last six games, 2-7 in their last nine road games, and 1-7 in Burnett’s last eight starts. Philadelphia is 8-19 in the last 27 meetings with the Mets.
I like the Mets to bounce back here and get the home win.
