The New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants face off on Saturday at Citi Field for game two of their series.
The New York Mets never got the bats in gear on Friday as they fell to the Giants. Lucas Duda hit a home run and Juan Lagares had a hit as the Mets scored one run on two hits and had three total base runners. Jon Niese allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out four over 8.0 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Mets start Jacob deGrom who has won his last four starts. For the season deGrom has allowed 79 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 83 over 87.0 innings for a 5-5 record and a 2.79 ERA.
The San Francisco Giants got out to an early start and they never let the Mets in the game on Friday to get the win. Hunter Pence, Buster Posey, and Pablo Sandoval each had hits as the Giants scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong had it working as he allowed two hits and a run while striking out five over the full 9.0 innings to get the win. For Saturday’s game the Giants start Jake Peavy who makes his second start since being traded from Boston. In his first outing for San Francisco Peavy allowed six hits and four runs, three earned, over 6.0 innings to take the loss against the Dodgers.
New York is 5-1 as a home favorite, 5-2 in their last seven home games, and 4-0 in deGrom’s last four starts. San Francisco is 7-2 against a right-handed starter, 6-2 in their last eight road games, and 2-6 in their last eight games. San Francisco is 5-1 in their last six games in New York.
I am not expecting a lot of offense in this one so even with the low number I like the under. My Stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that Pick in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
