The Line: Baltimore Orioles / New York Yankees --- Over/Under:
The Baltimore Orioles take the field with the division rivald New York Yankees in the night cap of their DH.
The New York Yankees have had their share of hot and cold streaks in 2014 which every team goes through without exception. Their problem is that they are inthesame division asthe red hot Orioles and find theselves in the mix for the Wild Card where the competition is steep. Injuries and new faces have also been a negative with Tanaka and Pineda getting hurt. The lineup also has some new faces and sometimes the run production has been on the inconsistent side. Put the injuries in the rotation together with an offense that doesn't always score and we have a team that is on the verge of missing out on the playoffs. The team has yet to decide who the starter will be but Shane Greene might get the ball.
If you have watched the Baltimore Orioles over the past several years you have seen a team that has worked their way from last place to a team that showed potential to one that was a marginal postseason contender. In 2014 the Orioles seem to have finally put everything together and minus the unforseen have the American League East championship right in front of them. The Birds don't have an elite pitching staff but their is enough quality arms to keep the team in games while the offense can grind out runs or explode without notice making this a very dangerous team to deal with. Bud Norris gets the start in game two of their doubleheader with the New York Yankees on Friday night. Norris is 12-8 with 3.92 ERA in 25 outings and is often the benefactor of plenty of run support.
The Orioles aren't going to win everytime they take the field but a strong performance in this doubleheader might wrap up the division. I'm going to back them once again...
