The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox face off on Tuesday in the Bronx as they play game one of their series.
The New York Yankees are holding onto their post-season hopes but they don’t have any more room for losses as the season winds down. As a team the Yankees are hitting .250 with Jacoby Ellsbury hitting .288, Ichiro Suzuki hitting .285, and Bret Gardener hitting .269. The New York pitching staff has an ERA of 3.82 with the starters at 3.82 and the bullpen at 3.82. For game one against the Red Sox the Yankees start Shane Greene who has won his last two decisions. For the season Greene has allowed 53 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 54 over 55.1 innings for a 4-1 record and a 3.09 ERA.
The Boston Red Sox have packed it in for the season a year after having a magical run it appears the magic is gone.
