New York Yankees -160 / Cleveland Indians +140 O/U: 11
The Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees will meet up on the MLB diamond Thursday to kick off their series.
Cleveland is coming off a set this week versus the Red Sox. The Indians split the first two games of that set—each by one run apiece. In the Wednesday finale, Cleveland fell 5-1.
The Indians will roll out Adam Plutko in the start Thursday. This year, Plutko is 4-3 with a 4.68 ERA and 39 strikeouts.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re coming out of a set against the Orioles. New York took the first three games of that series 8-5, 11-8 and 8-3. In the Wednesday game, the Yankees eked out a win 6-5.
New York will be sending out an opener for the start on Thursday. It’s looking like it’ll be Chad Green in that role for a couple of innings as the Yankees set up their rotation for the weekend.
The Indians are 7-2 in the last nine in game one of a series and 55-25 in their last 80 Thursday games. Cleveland is 4-0 in Plutko’s last four starts in game one of a series and 4-1 in his last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 5-1 in their last six Thursday games and 39-16 in their last 55 in game one of a series. The over is 14-3-1 in New York’s last 18 versus the AL Central and 5-2 in their last seven in game one of a series.
The Yankees come in here riding high after beating up on the lowly Orioles this week, and we’ll see if they can keep the momentum going while facing a much better team. That said, the Indians are just 4-9 in the last 13 meetings between these teams and 19-43 in the last 62 games at Yankee Stadium. This one seems like it’s still fully in New York’s control.
