New York, New York
New York Yankees -210 / Detroit Tigers +190 O/U: 9
The Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees will match up in MLB activity on Monday.
The Tigers are going with Tyson Ross on Monday. Ross played with both the Padres and the Cardinals last year, and with St. Louis he put up a 2.73 ERA with a 2-0 record in nine games.
Detroit came out of their Blue Jays series with two wins out of four games. On Sunday in Detroit’s 4-3 win, Jeimer Candelario bagged a whopping five hits in six at-bats, and Niko Goodrum added three more.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re rolling with Domingo German on Monday. In his 21 games last season and 2-6 record, German put up a 5.57 ERA with 81 hits and 102 strikeouts over 85.2 innings.
New York somehow has a losing record coming out of that Orioles series, falling 5-3 and 7-5 in their last two games. In the Sunday loss, the Yankees’ Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu were the only ones with multiple hits on the team.
The Tigers are 26-56 in their last 82 on grass and 29-6 in their last 92 overall. Detroit is 4-9 in the last 13 versus the AL East and 1-4 in the last five Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 37-17 ATS in their last 54 in game one of a series and 74-34 in their last 108 home games. New York is 5-2 in German’s last seven home starts and 35-17 in their last 52 versus the AL Central.
Ross had a pretty good run at the end of the 2018 season, and he was on a nice roll until his final appearance of the year, when he gave up two earned on four hits in 0.2 innings to the Brewers.
As for German, we don’t get to see him much, but with the Yanks’ injury situation he might have to carry a heavier load than usual. I see German sticking in here for a pretty short time, with the Yankees bullpen (and hopefully their bats) doing the rest.
