Coming up Wednesday from Yankee Stadium, the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees will be meeting up in MLB activity.
In the Monday opener, the Astros cruised to a 5-1 win. On Tuesday, The Yankees won in comeback extra-innings walk-off fashion 6-5.
For the Wednesday game, the Astros will be bringing out LHP Dallas Keuchel. In his 69.0 innings and 3-6 record this year, Keuchel has a 3.39 ERA with 53 Ks and 18 BBs.
Jose Altuve is way out front in the Houston stat book with 74 hits, 32 runs and 29 RBI coming into Tuesday. In game two, Altuve had two hits and a run.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with Luis Severino on Wednesday. In his 71.0 innings and 7-1 record so far, Severino has a 2.28 ERA with 81 Ks and 20 BBs.
Leading the way for the Yankees this year at the plate is Aaron Judge with 53 hits, 39 runs, 14 homers and 39 RBI entering Tuesday. In that game, Judge had a homer and two hits.
The Astros are 4-1 in their last five during game three of a series and 41-16 in their last 57 Wednesday games. Houston is also 1-4 in Keuchel’s last five Wednesday starts and 16-6 in hi last 22 starts with four days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 8-2 in their last 10 during game three of a series and 35-16 in their last 51 Wednesday games. New York is also 9-0 in Severino’s last nine Wednesday starts and 25-5 in his last 30 starts.
Aside from four earned in 5.0 innings against the Indians back on May 19, Keuchel has been very good over his last five outings, with four of them being quality starts. As for Severino, he’s sitting on a string of eight straight quality starts and is one of the bright spots in the Yankees rotation. New York has been sputtering a bit against the elite competition in the league, but I think Severino can put them in a good spot. I’m taking the Yankees but otherwise staying away from this game.
