New York Yankees -135 / Houston Astros +125 O/U: 9
The Houston Astros and the New York Yankees will meet up on Thursday to kick off their weekend MLB set.
Houston is coming off a series versus the Reds. The Astros dropped the first pair, each by one run, then in the finale on Wednesday it happened again with a walk-off loss 3-2.
For Thursday’s game, the Astros will be going with Framber Valdez in the start. Over his 3-2 mark and 2.77 ERA this year, Valdez has amassed 36 strikeouts.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re coming off a set versus the Rays. New York took a 3-0 win on Monday, a 6-3 win on Tuesday, then in the finale Wednesday the Yanks had two big innings with six runs apiece and cruised to a dominating 12-1 win.
For the Thursday game, New York will be going with Chad Green in the opening role. Green is 1-2 with a 7.54 ERA and 30 Ks this year.
The Astros are 46-17 in their last 63 in game one of a series and 3-7 in their last 10 Thursday games. Houston is 2-5 in the last seven road games versus a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600 and the under is 6-2 in the last eight Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 6-2 in the last eight versus the AL West and 44-19 in their last 63 in game one of a series. New York is 98-46 in their last 144 home games and the under is 6-1-1 in their last eight in game one of a series.
This will be Valdez’s third start of the season following his promotion from the bullpen. In the win over the Jays on Saturday, he struck out eight batters in six innings, which was a career high for him.
New York looked pretty darn solid in the Rays series, and conversely Houston had some trouble with the Reds. I’m leaning toward New York here, but as a great team, Houston won’t falter for long.
