New York, New York
New York Yankees -206 / Kansas City Royals +189 O/U: 9
The Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their MLB set Friday.
In the Thursday opener, the game was knotted up at 1-1 after the first inning but KC peppered in runs the rest of the way to a 6-1 victory.
For Friday’s game, the Royals will be sending out Jakob Junis in the start. Over his 22.0 innings and 1-1 mark this year, Junis has a 6.14 ERA with 24 Ks and six walks.
In Thursday’s game, we had a couple of solo homers from Royals players, and Whit Merrifield added one hit with one RBI. Adalberto Mondesi added two hits, two RBI and a run.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with vet CC Sabathia on Friday. In his lone start this year, Sabathia put up a no-decision on one hit and zero earned across 5.0 innings.
New York could only muster four hits on the evening on Thursday, and two of them belonged to Clint Frazier (2-for-4). Luke Voit and Aaron Judge also registered a knock for the Yankees in that one.
The Royals are 5-2 in their last seven Friday games and 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series. KC is 1-4 in Junis’ last five starts and 1-9 in his last 10 starts with four days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 7-2 in their last nine Friday games and 8-3 in the last 11 in game two of a series. New York is 4-1 in Sabathia’s last five starts in game two of a series and 25-9 in his last 34 home starts.
Junis began the year pretty well, logging a quality start in Detroit, but since then he’s coughed up nine earned on 16 points during 10.1 innings.
As for Sabathia, he looked great in his lone start, but don’t expect him to go past five innings or so here. Given how volatile the Yankees are right now, I can’t get on that train when the line is up past 200. I’m going to go with the Royals on a value pick simply on principle, but realistically I’m going nowhere near this game.
