MLB | Minnesota Twins (8-9) at New York Yankees (12-9)
Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

Coming up Wednesday from Yankee Stadium, the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees will be continuing their MLB series.

In the Monday game, New York put on a home-run clinic with a 14-1 win. On Tuesday, the Yankees kept the offense going strong with another homer-heavy 8-3 win.

For the Wednesday game, the Twins will be bringing out RHP Lance Lynn for the start. In his 15.0 innings and 0-1 mark this season, Lynn has a 6.00 ERA with 19 Ks and 15 BBs.

Coming out of the opener, the Twins’ leading hitter was Brian Dozier with 23 hits, 15 runs and 10 RBI. On Tuesday, Dozier came up empty 0-for-4.

Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re sending out Sonny Gray for the Wednesday start. Over his 16.1 innings and 1-1 record so far, Gray has an 8.27 ERA with 15 Ks and 11 BBs.

Heading up the offense for New York coming into Tuesday was Aaron Judge with 25 hits, 20 runs, six homers and 15 RBI. On Tuesday, Judge ripped a homer among three hits and two runs.

The Twins are 6-2 in their last eight Wednesday games and 0-5 in their last five road games. Minnesota is also 0-5 in their last five versus the AL East and 0-5 in their last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are 20-7 in their last 27 Wednesday games and 2-5 in Gray’s last seven starts. New York is also 0-5 in Gray’s last five starts with four days’ rest and the over is 11-5-1 in their last 17 during game three of a series.

Lynn has two bad starts and one good one on his resume so far this season, so he hasn’t hit his stride just yet. As for Gray, he’s been one of the weak pieces on the Yankee roster over his last pair, giving up 11 earned in just 6.1 innings. I’m tentatively going with the Yankees here on the assumption that their surging offense can bail Gray out if he digs himself a hole, but the over looks like a better proposition in this one.
