MLB | New York Mets (13-3) at New York Yankees (9-7)

The Subway series begins with the New York Mets paying the New York Yankees a visit Friday.

The New York Mets are as hot as I’ve seen them in recent memory as they have not tasted defeat in weeks. The Mets continued to win with a 6-3 victory over visiting Atlanta on Thursday afternoon with both the arms and bats coming up big. Starter Bartolo Colon continued to throw the ball well with all three runs allowed on seven hits and five K’s over six frames with three relievers putting up zeros. The offense managed six hits and walked six times with Daniel Murphy doing most of the damage on a 2-3 day producing four RBI’s while Curtis Granderson and Michael Cuddyer scoring twice. Jacob deGrom opens the series on the bump versus the rival Yankees. DeGrom has been outstanding with back to back shutouts on 13 hits and a base on balls over a combined 13.1 frames.

The New York Yankees are playing good baseball at the moment and would like nothing more then to keep the wins coming in. The Yankees did just that with a 2-1 victory at red hot Detroit on Thursday afternoon. The even better news is starter Masahiro Tanaka looked healthy with the lone run allowed on three hits  with six strikeouts through 6.1 innings pitched while the pen held the Tigers scoreless. The bats didn’t crush the ball with three hits but they did walk six times. Jacoby Ellsbury was 1-2 with a pair of walks and two runs scored.Michael Pineda draws the game one start versus the Mets on Friday for his 4th outing of 2015. Pineda is coming off of a 5-3 victory against Tampa Bay with all three runs plated on seven hits in 5.2 frames.

The over is 9-3-1 in the Mets last 13 games on grass and 9-3-1 in their last 13 overall while the Mets are 11-4 in their last 15 Friday games. The over is 11-4 in the Yankees last 15 overall and 13-6 in their last 19 games on grass while the under is 43-20in the Yankees last 63 interleague games. The Mets are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. This will be a tough one for the Mets who streak might be in jeopardy but I’ll keep riding them…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
