The Line: New York Yankees -200 / New York Mets +185 --- Over/Under: 7.5
Headed our way on Monday, we’ve got a fun game in the MLB kicking off between the New York Mets and the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
The Mets are coming off a series against the Marlins. After splitting the first two games, on Sunday the Mets eked out a 4-3 win.
For the Monday game, the Mets will be bringing out RHP Jacob deGrom. In his 152.1 innings and 6-7 mark this year, deGrom has a 1.77 ERA with 183 Ks.
Tops in hitting for the Mets this season is Amed Rosario, with 86 hits, 45 runs and 31 RBI. On Sunday, Jose Reyes hit a two-run homer.
As for the Yankees, they just finished up against the Rangers. New York took two of the first three games, then on Sunday the Yankees won again 7-2.
The Yankees are going with Luis Severino on Monday. Across 150.1 innings and a 15-5 record this year, Severino has a 3.11 ERA with 167 Ks.
Leading the way for the Yankees’ offense is Giancarlo Stanton, who entered the week on 126 hits, 75 runs, 29 homers and 75 RBI. On Sunday, Stanton put up a solo homer.
The Mets are 35-78 in their last 113 versus a team with a winning record and 5-13 in their last 18 versus the AL East. The Mets are 1-5 in deGrom’s last six road starts and 7-3 in his last 10 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 4-1 in their last five in game one of a series and 24-10 in their last 34 Monday games. New York is 22-10 in their last 32 versus the NL East and the under is 6-2 in their last eight Monday games.
This should be a really fun pitching matchup. If deGrom weren’t playing for the Mets, he’d have won 12 games by now, and his stats would look more like Severino’s. Speaking of Luis, he’s been a little sketchy since the break and is no longer a sure thing. I would imagine the Yankees will take a victory here but all things considered it’s not a bad spot to value-pick the Mets.
