The Line: New York Yankees -175 / Oakland Athletics +165 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Out at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, the Oakland A’s and the New York Yankees will be picking up their MLB series once again.
In the Friday opener, the A’s bats came alive, pummeling New York to the tune of 14 hits; the end result was a 10-5 Oakland win.
For Saturday’s game, the A’s will be going with RHP Andrew Triggs. In his 34.2 innings and 3-1 record this year, Triggs has a 4.41 ERA and 36 Ks with 12 BBs.
Coming into this set, the A’s top hitter was Jed Lowrie with 49 hits, 16 runs, eight homers and 32 RBI to his credit. On Friday, Lowrie had three hits and a homer.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with Domingo German on Saturday. In his 20.1 innings and 0-1 record this year, German has a 2.66 ERA with 27 Ks and nine BBs.
New York’s leading hitter coming into this series was Aaron Judge with 42 hits, 29 runs, nine homers and 28 RBI. In the opener, Judge ripped a three-run homer that briefly kept the Yanks in the game.
The Athletics are 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series and 6-0 in Triggs’ last six starts in game two of a series. Oakland is also 5-2 in Triggs’ last seven starts and 1-5 in his last six starts versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 5-0 in their last five during game two of a series and 4-0 in their last four Saturday games. The over is 8-2 in New York’s last 10 during game two of a series and the under is 10-4 in their last 14 Saturday games.
Aside from a couple of hiccups, Triggs has been very good this season. He’s only allowed more than two earned twice so far. German, meanwhile, has a couple of ugly appearances as well but did pitch great in his last start (zero hits, zero earned in 6.0 innings versus Cleveland). If German can give the Yanks five or six good innings they’ll be in a good position to get a win.
