New York Yankees -150 / Seattle Mariners +140 O/U: 8.5
The Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees will pick up their MLB series once again on Tuesday.
In the Monday opener of this set, the Yankees scored seven runs in the first three innings and rode the wave to a 7-3 win.
For Tuesday’s game, the Mariners will be sending out Marco Gonzales in the start. Over his 46.2 innings and 5-1 record so far, Gonzales has a 3.28 ERA with 36 Ks and 12 BBs.
In the Monday loss, Seattle’s Dee Gordon was the big hitter on the team with a 3-for-4 night featuring a solo home run. Domingo Santana also went yard with a two-run shot.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with Masahiro Tanaka on Tuesday. In his 39.0 innings and 2-3 mark so far, Tanaka has a 3.92 ERA with 36 Ks and 12 BBs.
New York got some offense going in the Monday win, and Brett Gardner helped out with a triple and a homer. Luke Voit ripped a two-run homer in the first inning as well.
The Mariners are 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series and 3-13 in their last 16 Tuesday games. Seattle is 4-0 in Gonzales’ last four road starts and 6-2 in his last eight starts.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series and 25-10 in their last 35 Tuesday games. New York is 1-5 in Tanaka’s last six starts and 1-5 in his last six with five days’ rest.
Gonzales was cruising along nicely this year but ran into some trouble against the Cubs in his last start. In that game, Gonzales gave up three earned on five hits and three walks in just 1.2 innings.
As for Tanaka, he’s had some tough outings lately, with two of his last four starts yielding 10 combined earned runs.
I think there’s enough talent in the Mariners order to take them on a value pick here behind Gonzales. Give me Seattle.
