New York, New York
New York Yankees -136 / Tampa Bay Rays +124 O/U: 9
The Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees will be matching up to kick off their MLB set on Monday.
The Rays are coming off a set against the Angels this weekend. Tampa won the Friday version of that set but fell Thursday and Saturday. In the Sunday game, Tampa eked out a 6-5 win.
For Monday’s outing, Tampa will be sending out Yonny Chirinos for the start. Chirinos is 7-2 with a 2.88 ERA and 62 Ks this year.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re coming off a weekend set versus the White Sox. New York dropped the first two games in that series and won Saturday. In the Sunday finale, the Yankees managed a 10-3 win.
New York is going with Masahiro Tanaka in the start Monday. Over his 83.0 innings and 4-5 record this year, Tanaka has a 3.58 ERA with 74 Ks and 19 BBs.
The Rays are 22-4 in their last 26 Monday games and 16-6 in their last 22 in game one of a series. The over is 4-1 in Tampa’s last five Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 4-0 in their last four Monday games and 43-19 in their last 62 in game one of a series. New York is 2-6 in Tanaka’s last eight starts with five days’ rest and 35-16 in his last 51 home starts.
After a run of four straight quality starts, Tanaka has been a little shaky over his last trio. In that time, he’s coughed up 12 earned over a span of 18.2 innings and is just 1-2 record-wise.
If New York has to rely on an aging Tanaka to go six-plus innings every start, they’re gonna have a bad time. I’m sticking with Tampa Bay here.
