New York, New York
New York Yankees -125 / Tampa Bay Rays +115 O/U: 9.5
The Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their series Tuesday.
On Monday, the Yankees struck first with a complete-game shutout from veteran Masahiro Tanaka in a 3-0 victory.
For the Tuesday game, the Rays will be going with opener Ryne Stanek. Stanek is 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA and 43 Ks this year.
The Rays couldn’t solve Tanaka on Monday, and came away with just the two hits. Austin Meadows and Matt Adames each managed one knock.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with JA Happ on Tuesday for the start. Across his 75.1 innings and 4.66 ERA this year, Happ has a 6-3 record with 61 Ks and 19 BBs.
Tanaka was stellar in the Yankees’ Monday victory. He went all 9.0 innings, allowing just two hits and one walk alongside 10 strikeouts on the evening. Homers by DJ LeMahieu and Cameron Maybin would seal the win.
The Rays are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games and 35-17 in their last 52 in game two of a series. The under is 20-8 in the Rays’ last 28 Tuesday games and 22-5-1 in the last 28 road games versus a left-handed starter.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 4-1 in Happ’s last five home starts and 19-7 in his last 26 starts. New York is 5-1 in Happ’s last six starts on grass and the over is 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series.
Happ has two quality starts over his last four appearances and a total of nine earned in 23.0 innings during that time. That said he was a little shaky here and there in his last game versus the White Sox, with 5.0 innings and four earned in a no-decision.
Still, Happ seems like one of the more reliable arms in the Yankee rotation right now, so I’m going to stick with NY here.
