New York Yankees -195 Toronto Blue Jays +183 O/U: 9.5
The Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees will finish up their MLB series on Sunday.
In the Friday opener, the Yankees took a 4-0 shutout win. On Saturday, then Jays evened up by eking out a 2-1 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Jays will be sending out Marcus Stroman in the start. Over his 104.2 innings and 5-9 mark so far, Stroman has a 3.18 ERA with 81 Ks and 32 BBs.
The Blue Jays didn’t have a huge offensive day Saturday, but thanks to some timely defensive plays and hitting, they got the job done. Randall Grichuk finished with two hits and two RBI along with some great work in the field.
Over on the Yankees’ side, they’re going with Masahiro Tanaka in the start Sunday. Across his 105.0 innings and 5-5 record this year, Tanaka has a 3.86 ERA with 90 Ks and 25 BBs.
New York couldn’t get the bats going consistently on Saturday and finished with eight hits. Aaron Judge had a good day with four hits and an RBI, though.
The Blue Jays are 5-14 in their last 19 in game three of a series and 4-1 in Stroman’s last five starts in game three of a series. Toronto is 5-2 in Stroman’s last seven starts versus a team with a winning record and 2-5 in his last seven road starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 6-1 in their last seven in game three of a series and 5-0 in Tanaka’s last five starts. New York is 4-0 in Tanaka’s last four starts on grass and 37-16 in his last 53 home starts.
Stroman had a pretty good run going with three straight quality starts, but fizzled a bit against the Royals his last time up with three earned on four hits in 4.0 innings.
As for Tanaka, he’s given up 10 earned over his last 7.0 innings in two appearances, but one of those was a London meltdown that can probably be disregarded. I like the Yankees a little better here.
