The Line: New York Yankees -245 / Toronto Blue Jays +225 --- Over/Under: 9
The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees meet Sunday in MLB action at Yankee Stadium.
The Toronto Blue Jays look for another win after losing six of their last nine games. The Blue Jays have scored 11 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Toronto Blue Jays have won four of their last six games when scoring more than three runs. Justin Smoak leads the Blue Jays with 119 hits and 75 RBI while Kevin Pillar and Teoscar Hernandez have combined for 228 hits and 110 RBI. Thomas Pannone gets the ball, and he is 2-1 with a 4.13 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season. This will be Pannone’s second career game against the Yankees.
The New York Yankees look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last 10 games. The Yankees have scored 19 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The New York Yankees have won five of their last seven games when scoring more than three runs. Miguel Andujar leads the Yankees with 156 hits and 83 RBI while Giancarlo Stanton and Didi Gregorius have combined for 278 hits and 172 RBI. Lance Lynn gets the ball, and he is 9-10 with a 5.01 ERA and 146 strikeouts this season. Lynn is 0-2 with a 6.88 ERA and 17 strikeouts in his career against the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays are 16-35 in their last 51 road games, 17-35 in their last 52 vs. American League East and 1-4 in their last 5 overall. The Yankees are 68-27 in their last 95 home games, 1-4 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series and 5-2 in Lynns last 7 starts. The Blue Jays are 22-48 in the last 70 meetings in New York, 1-10 in the last 11 meetings and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
I'm not laying this insane price with a hit or miss Yankees team and with Lynn on the mound, who has an ERA over five and is allowing a .266 batting average on the season. I'm also not backing the Blue Jays with Pannone, who has an ERA over seven on the road and has control issues at times. I'll take the over in this game instead. The over is a popular trend when the Blue Jays and Yankees meet, and both of these pitchers can get roughed up. I expect to see double-digit runs in this small park.
