The Line: New York Yankees -155 / Washington Nationals +145 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Coming up Tuesday from Yankee Stadium, the Washington Nationals and the New York Yankees will be kicking off their MLB series.
The Nats just finished a series against the Giants. Washington won on Saturday but lost the other two games and the set.
Washington will be sending out RHP Tanner Roark on Tuesday. In his 78.1 innings and 3-6 record this year, Roark has a 3.56 ERA with 65 Ks.
Tops in hitting this year for the Nats is Trea Turner with 65 hits, 36 runs and 25 RBI. Bryce Harper is second on the team with his 51 hits, 39 runs, 19 homers and 43 RBI.
As for the Yankees, they just came off a Subway Series against their city-mate Mets. The Yankees took the first two games but fell 2-0 in the finale.
New York will be going with lefty CC Sabathia on Tuesday. Over 57.2 innings and a 3-1 record this year, Sabathia has a 3.59 ERA with 44 Ks.
New York’s leading hitter this season is Miguel Andujar, with 63 hits, 30 runs and 28 RBI. Aaron Judge is second on the team with 61 hits, 44 runs, 18 homers and 45 RBI.
The Nationals are 7-0 in their last seven versus the AL East and 11-3 in their last 14 road games. Washington is also 21-7 in their last 28 Tuesday games and 8-3 in their last 11 in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 4-0 in their last four games following an off day and 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games. New York is also 7-2 in their last nine versus the NL East and 21-8 in their last 29 during game one of a series.
This is Roark’s first career start against the Yankees, and he should last a while here as he’s pitched at least six innings in 11 of his 12 starts in 2018. As for Sabathia, his age is starting to show at times but he was solid against Toronto last week. This is probably a game to stay away from, but taking Washington as a value pick doesn’t sound so crazy.
