Saturday afternoon over at O.co Coliseum, the Houston Astros and the Oakland Athletics will be continuing their weekend MLB set.
In the Friday opener, the A’s came back from a 3-2 deficit to win 4-3 in 10 innings in a crazy game.
For the Saturday game, the Astros will be sending out southpaw Dallas Keuchel. In his 155.0 innings and 9-9 record this year, Keuchel has a 3.43 ERA with 115 Ks and 40 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Astros this year is the talented Jose Altuve, who came into this set with 134 hits, 64 runs and 46 RBI. On Friday, Alex Bregman hit a solo homer.
Over on the A’s side, they’re sending out Trevor Cahill for the Saturday start. Cahill has put up 79.2 innings with a 4-2 record this year, logging a 3.39 ERA, 78 Ks and 24 BBs.
Marcus Semien tops out the A’s batters this year with 127 hits, 69 runs, 10 homers and 45 RBI coming into this series. In the opener, Semien logged a hit and a run.
The Astros are 7-3 in their last 10 Saturday games and 38-17 in their last 55 in game two of a series. Houston is also 4-1 in Keuchel’s last five Saturday starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts.
Meanwhile, the A’s are 8-1 in their last nine Saturday games and 13-3 in their last 16 in game two of a series. Oakland is also 6-0 in Cahill’s last six starts and 6-2 in his last eight home starts.
Keuchel has been on a great run lately, and he’s got seven quality starts in his last eight outings. Even though Keuchel has given up just two earned in 13.0 innings over his last two games, he still didn’t get a win in either. I think he’ll get it here, and it makes sense to me to go Astros in this one.
