The Line: Oakland Athletics -175 / Kansas City Royals +165 --- Over/Under: 8
Coming up Saturday from O.co Coliseum, the Kansas City Royals and the Oakland Athletics will be continuing their weekend MLB series.
On Thursday, the A’s took a 4-1 victory to open it up. In the Friday game, Oakland kept it going with a 7-2 win.
For Saturday’s game, the Royals will be rolling with LHP Danny Duffy. In his 69.2 innings and 2-6 record this year, Duffy has a 5.81 ERA with 54 Ks and 34 BBs.
The Royals’ Mike Moustakas had 67 hits, 33 runs, 13 homers and 42 RBI entering Friday. In game two, Moustakas put up a two-run homer.
Over on the A’s side, they’re going with Trevor Cahill on Saturday. Across 48.2 innings and a 1-2 mark this season, Cahill has a 2.77 ERA with 47 Ks and 11 BBs.
Entering game two of this set, Jed Lowrie led the A’s with 72 hits, 25 runs and 42 RBI. On Friday, Lowrie went 0-for-4.
The Royals are 6-23 in the last 29 in game three of a series and 1-4 in their last five Saturday games. KC is also 0-5 in Duffy’s last five starts in game three of a series and 3-11 in his last 14 starts.
Meanwhile, the A’s are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 0-4 in Cahill’s last four starts. Oakland is also 1-6 in Cahill’s last seven starts versus the AL Central and 0-4 in his last four starts on grass.
Duffy had a couple of bad starts—then a couple of good starts—before putting up 5.0 innings with four earned in his last outing. Cahill’s been a little choppy lately, putting up 4.2 innings and four earned in his last outing at KC. I’m going to go with Duffy to turn things around here and help the Royals get a win.
