The Line: Oakland Athletics -160 / San Diego Padres +150 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Down at O.co Coliseum on Wednesday, the San Diego Padres and the Oakland Athletics will be finishing up their two-game MLB set.
In the Tuesday installment, the A’s scored five runs in the fifth on the way to a 6-2 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Padres will be going with Luis Perdomo. Across 14.0 innings and a 1-2 record this year, Perdomo has an 8.36 ERA with 17 Ks.
Tops in hitting for the Padres this season is Eric Hosmer, who came into this set on 86 hits, 37 runs and 36 RBI. On Tuesday, Hosmer put up an RBI.
Over on the A’s side, they’re rolling out Sean Manaea on Wednesday. Over his 106.2 innings and 8-6 record this year, Manaea has a 3.38 ERA with 77 Ks and 20 BBs.
Jed Lowrie is tops for the Oakland offense, and he had 95 hits, 36 runs, 14 homers and 56 RBI coming into this series. In the opener, Lowrie posted two hits, three RBI and a run.
The Padres are 6-1 in the last seven in game two of a series and 5-2 in the last seven Wednesday games. San Diego is 3-9 in their last 12 games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and 0-7 in their last seven games versus a left-handed starter.
Meanwhile, the A’s are 4-1 in their last five in game two of a series and 2-6 in their last eight Wednesday games. Oakland is 4-0 in Manaea’s last four starts and 1-6 in his last seven interleague starts.
Over his last four appearances, Manaea has logged four straight quality starts, allowing a total of eight earned in 26.1 innings. He’s allowed more than two earned just once over his last five starts as well. I’m going to stick with Manaea to keep it going here and take the A’s for the win.
