The Line: Seattle Mariners / Oakland Athletics -- Over/Under:
The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics meet Saturday in MLB action at Oakland Coliseum.
The Seattle Mariners look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Mariners have scored 23 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in nine of their last 10 games. The Seattle Mariners have won five of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Domingo Santana leads the Mariners with 76 hits and 49 RBI while Edwin Encarnacion and Mitch Haniger have combined for 112 hits and 81 RBI. Wade LeBlanc gets the ball, and he is 3-2 with a 5.31 ERA and 33 strikeouts this season. LeBlanc is 3-1 with a 3.82 ERA and 24 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Oakland Athletics look for a win after splitting their last 12 games. The Athletics have scored 12 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in nine of their last 12 games. The Oakland Athletics have won six of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Marcus Semien leads the Athletics with 76 hits and 33 RBI while Matt Chapman and Stephen Piscotty have combined for 131 hits and 65 RBI. Frankie Montas gets the ball, and he is 8-2 with a 2.84 ERA and 79 strikeouts this season. Montas is 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA and 11 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 6-20 in their last 26 road games, 3-10 in their last 13 during game 2 of a series and 0-4 in LeBlanc's last 4 starts. The Athletics are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series, 4-1 in Montas' last 5 home starts and 5-1 in Montas' last 6 starts. The over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings. The over is 7-0 in Montas' last 7 starts with 5 days of rest. The over is 6-1 in LeBlanc's last 7 starts overall.
I continue to say that I'm blindly fading the Seattle Mariners until they get their stuff together, and while they won last night, this club has won back-to-back games just once since April 27. You ride this longterm and you're going to continue making money. It also doesn't hurt that LeBlanc has gotten tagged quite a bit this season and is allowing a .260 batting average in 77 at bats against current A's. Oakland has won five of Montas' last six starts. I'll keep fading the Mariners until they're able to sustain any sort of success.
