The Line: Seattle Mariners / Oakland Athletics -- Over/Under:
The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics meet Wednesday in MLB action at Oakland Coliseum.
The Seattle Mariners need a win to snap a five-game losing streak. The Mariners have scored seven runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last seven games. The Seattle Mariners haven’t won a game when scoring three or less runs since April 2. Domingo Santana leads the Mariners with 104 hits and 64 RBI while Omar Narvaez and Mallex Smith have combined for 150 hits and 61 RBI. The Seattle Mariners didn’t list a starting pitcher at the time this article was published.
The Oakland Athletics look to stay hot after winning 11 of their last 13 games. The Athletics have scored 25 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 13 games. The Oakland Athletics have won 19 straight games when scoring four or more runs. Marcus Semien leads the Athletics with 106 hits and 48 RBI while Matt Chapman and Ramon Laureano have combined for 187 hits and 110 RBI. Homer Bailey gets the ball, and he is 7-6 with a 4.80 ERA and 81 strikeouts this season. Bailey is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.
The Mariners are 4-1 in their last 5 Wednesday games, 6-15 in their last 21 during game 2 of a series and 9-28 in their last 37 road games. The Athletics are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. American League West, 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 20-7 in their last 27 overall. The under is 6-2 in Athletics last 8 overall. The under is 9-4-1 in Mariners last 14 overall.
Bailey will make his debut with Oakland, as he comes over from the Kansas City Royals and has been sharp as of late, allowing just eight earned runs in his last 29 innings. But for me this is all about the Oakland Athletics being arguably the hottest team in baseball right now and the Seattle Mariners not being able to buy a victory. These are two teams heading in completely different directions and there's no reason to see this game being much different. I'm riding this hot streak with Oakland for another game.
