The Oakland A’s and the Seattle mariners face off on Monday in Oakland for game one of their series on American League post season contenders.

The Oakland A’s have hit the skids and are in danger of possibly missing he post season altogether. The A’s are 43-23 at home this season, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they have lost four games in a row. As a team the Athletics are hitting .248 with Geovany Soto hitting .400, Josh Donaldson hitting .259, and Coco Crisp hitting .254. The Oakland pitching staff has an ERA of 3.26 with the starters at 3.44 and the bullpen at 2.89. For game one against the Mariners the A’s start Jason Hammel ho has been a bust since being acquired from the Cubs. Since moving to Oakland Hammel has allowed 46 hits and 25 runs while striking out 27 over 39 innings for a 1-5 record and a 5.77 ERA.

The Seattle Mariners are once again on the outside looking in at the playoffs but they are just a half of a gam behind the Tigers for the final Wildcard spot in the AL. Seattle is 37-26 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a win on Sunday. As a team the Mariners are hitting .256 with Robinson Cano hitting .324, Kyle Seager hitting .274, and Dustin Ackley hitting .260. As a team the Mariners pitching staff has an ERA of 3.02 with the starters at 3.33 and the bullpen at 2.41. For game one against the A’s the Mariners start Chris Young who has won his last four decisions. For the season Young has allowed 123 hits and 53 earned runs while striking out 94 over 150.1 innings for a 12-6 record and a 3.17 ERA.

Oakland is 37-14 in their last 51 home games, 1-5 against the AL West, and 1-7 in Hammel’s last eight starts. Seattle is 4-1 in their last five road games, 2-5 against the AL West, and 6-0 in Young’s last six starts. Seattle has won five of their last seven games against Oakland.

I am seeing this one going over the number even tough it should be a playoff type atmosphere but 7.5 just looks too low for this game.

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (cfbplace.com), After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched CBBplace.com, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
