The Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics meet Wednesday in MLB action at the Oakland Coliseum.
The Texas Rangers look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last eight games. The Rangers have allowed 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 12 games. The Texas Rangers have lost seven of their last 11 games when allowing more than two runs. Offensively, Shin-Soo Choo leads the Rangers with 130 hits and 57 RBI while Jurickson Profar and Nomar Mazara have combined for 202 hits and 125 RBI. Mike Minor gets the ball, and he is 9-6 with a 4.61 ERA and 100 strikeouts this season. Minor is 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA and 15 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Oakland Athletics look to keep the ball rolling after winning 15 of their last 19 games. The Athletics have scored 19 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 10 games. The Oakland Athletics have won eight of their last nine games when scoring at least one run. Marcus Semien leads the Athletics with 134 hits and 46 RBI while Jed Lowrie and Khris Davis have combined for 244 hits and 179 RBI. Edwin Jackson gets the ball, and he is 4-2 with a 2.58 ERA and 43 strikeouts this season. Jackson is 2-3 with a 4.56 ERA and 45 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 8-3 in their last 11 vs. American League West, 1-5 in their last 6 road games and 1-6 in Minors last 7 starts vs. American League West. The Athletics are 7-1 in their last 8 Wednesday games, 10-4 in their last 14 during game 3 of a series and 5-0 in Jacksons last 5 starts. The Rangers are 2-11 in the last 13 meetings in Oakland, 0-5 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings.
Nobody has been riding the Oakland Athletics harder than me in the second half of the season, as this has been the best team in the league since Mid-June and has everything working for them right now. From the defense to the bullpen to the offense to the starting pitching. Something special is going on in Oakland right now and it's wise if you don't step in front of it. Not to mention the Texas Rangers pitching staff gets rocked nightly. The A's should have little trouble sweeping here.
