|Date & Time||Saturday April 20, 2019, 4:07 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Toronto Blue Jays +134 / Oakland Athletics -145 -- Over/Under: 8.5
The Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics meet Saturday in MLB action at Oakland Coliseum.
The Toronto Blue Jays look for another win after winning five of their last seven games. The Blue Jays have scored 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 10 games. The Toronto Blue Jays have won six of their last nine games when scoring more than one run. Freddy Galvis leads the Blue Jays with 24 hits and 11 RBI while Randal Grichuk and Teoscar Hernandez have combined for 33 hits and 19 RBI. Matt Shoemaker gets the ball, and he is 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. Shoemaker is 6-3 with a 4.19 ERA and 62 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Oakland Athletics look for a win after splitting their last six games. The Athletics have scored four runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 10 games. The Oakland Athletics have won nine of their last 14 games when scoring more than one run. Marcus Semien leads the Athletics with 25 hits and 10 RBI while Matt Chapman and Khris Davis have combined for 41 hits and 33 RBI. Mike Fiers gets the ball, and he is 2-1 with a 7.06 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. Fiers is 1-3 with a 3.49 ERA and 39 strikeouts in his career against the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays are 9-17 in their last 26 vs. American League West, 2-8 in their last 10 games vs. a right-handed starter and 4-0 in Shoemaker's last 4 starts. The Athletics are 14-4 in their last 18 Saturday games, 39-17 in their last 56 home games and 11-3 in Fiers' last 14 starts. The Blue Jays are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings in Oakland and 1-7 in the last 8 meetings. The under is 8-3 in Athletics last 11 home games. The under is 38-16-6 in Blue Jays last 60 Saturday games.
The Toronto Blue Jays are enjoying their best stretch of the young season and Shoemaker has been lights out through 25.2 innings. With that said, the A's have had nothing but success with Mike Fiers on the mound, which includes wins in 12 of his last 15 games. Fiers has also been on the winning side in 17 of his last 20 games, so he's quietly been one of the more profitable pitchers in the sport. It's also only a matter of time before the Oakland Athletics offense breaks out of this current funk. I'll lay the reasonable price with the A's.
