MLB | Arizona Diamondbacks (4-4) at San Diego Padres (5-4)
USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Wednesday at PETCO Park for game three of their MLB NL West series.

The San Diego Padres dropped game one of their series against the Diamondbacks but they bounced back on Tuesday winning game two. Justin Upton hit a home run, Matt Kemp had two hits, and Wil Myers was among those with hits as the Padres scored five runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Odisamer Despaigne allowed just two hits and a run while striking out three over 7.0 innings to get the win. For Wednesday’s game the Padres start Brandon Morrow who allowed four hits and struck out seven over 7.0 innings in his first start of the year facing the Giants to not get a decision.

The Arizona Diamondbacks started their series in San Diego with a big win but on Tuesday they just didn’t have a lot of answers falling to the Padres. Paul Goldschmidt, Mark Trumbo, and Jacob lamb each had hits as the Diamondbacks scored one run on three hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out six over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Chase Anderson who allowed five hits and three runs while striking out six over 5.0 innings to not factor in the decision in his first start of the year at the Dodgers.

San Diego is 5-1 I their last six games, 21-6 as a home favorite, and 2-6 following a win. Arizona is 15-37 in their last 52 road games, 5-17 in game three of a series, and 0-4 in Anderson’s last four road starts. Arizona is 5-2 in their last seven games against San Diego.

With the total set at 6.5 my free pick in this one is the over as I see it just being a shade low and even in Tuesday’s low scoring game it came close to that number and this figures to be higher scoring. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as the App. As always my Premium Picks are always available for individual purchase at Picks and Parlays
