The Line: Philadelphia Phillies +120 / Atlanta Braves -130 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The Atlanta Braves continue their series versus the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.
After a surprisingly good start to the season the Atlanta Braves have dramatically slowed as losers in seven of eleven after a 1-0 loss at Citizens bank park where an outstanding effort went by the wayside. Starter Alex Wood tossed five scoreless innings before Jim Johnson gave up a run in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss. The Braves had nothing going with just two hits and a pair of bases on balls to lean on with AJ Pierzynski and Chris Johnson posting hits. Shelby Miller draws the starting assignment versus Philadelphia on Saturday night. Miller picked up his second win by a 5-2 count against Toronto with both runs plated on five hits a trio of BB in six innings.
The Philadelphia Phillies had some good performances early in the season but have tailed off as of late. Despite Friday’s series opening win against visiting Atlanta the Phils have still dropped seven of eleven overall. The pitching saved the team with Aaron Harang continuing his hot start with a two hit shutout and six strikeouts through eight innings for a no decision. The Phils totaled eight hits and walked twice with Ben Revere driving in Freddy Galvis with the only run of the game in the 9th.Right hander David Buchanan toes the rubber against Atlanta in search of his first win. Buchanan fell to Washington last time out with three runs scored on six his and three free passes over five frames in a 4-1 defeat.
The under is 7-2-2 in Atlanta’s last 11 Saturday games and the over is 9-3 in their last 12 while the Braves are 3-10 in their last 13 games as a favorite. The over is 6-1-2 in the Philies last 9 overall and 6-1-2 in their last 9 on grass while going 6-1-1 in Philadelphia’s last 8 as an underdog. Atlanta are 9-4 in the last 13 meetings. You are risking capital here regardless of which team you back because both are going to finish at the bottom of the East…
