|Date & Time||Saturday September 27, 2014, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Philadelphia Phillies -115 / Atlanta Braves +105 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves face off on Saturday in Philadelphia in their second to last games of the 2014 MLB season.
The Philadelphia Phillies lacked a lot of the personnel to compete this season but they never quit as we saw on Friday in their comeback win. Cody Asche and Freddy Galvis had two hits each and Ben Revere and Ryan Howard added hits as the Phillies scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Jerome Williams allowed eight hits and four runs over 6.o innings to not factor in the decision as Luis Garcia got the win and Jonathan Papelbon earned his 39th save of he year. For Saturday’s game the Phillies start A.J. Burnett who is 8-17 with a 4.57 ERA for the season and 0-2 with a 7.88 ERA in his last three starts.
The Atlanta Braves looked to have a comfortable lead on Friday but they let it slip away and took a loss. Chris Johnson hot a home run, Freddie Freeman had two hits, and Justin Upton and Jason Heyward each had hits as the Braves scored four runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Ervin Santana allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out five to not get a decision as Jordan Walden took the loss. For Saturdays game the Braves start Aaron Harang who is 11-12 with a 3.60 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 1.29 ERA in his last three starts.
Philadelphia is 4-1 as a home favorite, 4-8 in their last 2 games, and 7-19 in Burnett’s last 26 starts. Atlanta is 5-18 in their last 23 games, 1-7 in their last eight road games, and 2-7 in Harang’s last nine starts as an underdog. Atlanta is 4-1 in their last five games in Philadelphia.
The Braves have simply quit on the field and I see no reason to take them here making my play being on the Phillies.
