The Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies meet Monday in MLB action at Citizens Bank Park.
The Los Angeles Dodgers look for a victory after splitting their last 12 games. The Dodgers have scored 19 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in eight of their last 13 games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have won their last six games when scoring four or more runs. Cody Bellinger leads the Dodgers with 110 hits and 73 RBI while Justin Turner and Alex Verdugo have combined for 173 hits and 76 RBI. Clayton Kershaw gets the ball, and he is 7-2 with a 3.09 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season. Kershaw is 3-5 with a 2.83 ERA and 97 strikeouts in his career against the Phillies.
The Philadelphia Phillies could use a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Phillies have scored seven runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Philadelphia Phillies have won eight of their last 11 games when scoring four or more runs. Cesar Hernandez leads the Phillies with 98 hits and 41 RBI while Jean Segura and J.T. Realmuto have combined for 181 hits and 85 RBI. Zach Eflin gets the ball, and he is 7-8 with a 3.78 ERA and 83 strikeouts this season. Eflin is 0-2 with a 9.18 ERA and 10 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are 47-22 in their last 69 during game 1 of a series, 84-29 in Kershaws last 113 starts and 37-16 in Kershaws last 53 road starts. The Phillies are 24-49 in their last 73 Monday games, 1-4 in Eflins last 5 starts and 1-10 in Eflins last 11 starts vs. National League West. The Dodgers are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Philadelphia, 6-2 in Kershaws last 8 starts vs. Phillies and the Phillies are 0-4 in Eflins last 4 starts vs. Dodgers. The under is 6-2 in Eflins last 8 home starts. The over is 8-3 in Kershaws last 11 road starts.
Kershaw has shown flashes of being Kershaw of old, but he's still a lot more hittable than he's been in the past, especially on the road where he has a 3.99 ERA and .233 allowed batting average. Effin hasn't been good lately, allowing 20 earned runs in his last 34.1 innings, but he does have a solid 3.04 ERA at home and it's where five of his seven wins this season have come. The Los Angeles Dodgers may have the pitching edge, but they're coming off a late extra innings game against Boston, so there's a nice rest advantage for the home team. The Philadelphia Phillies also need to start winning games consistently to better their playoff position. I'll take a shot with the plus money.
