|Date & Time||Saturday August 4, 2018, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Philadelphia Phillies -170 / Miami Marlins +160 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Miami Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies will be continuing their weekend MLB series from Citizens Bank Park on Saturday.
Philly took a 5-2 win in the opener Thursday, then in game two the Phillies made it two in a row with a 5-1 victory.
For Saturday’s game, the Marlins will be sending out Jose Urena. In his 118.2 innings and 3-10 mark this year, Urena has a 4.40 ERA with 98 Ks and 34 walks.
Miami’s lead hitter this year is Starlin Castro, who entered Friday on 122 hits, 62 runs and 40 RBI. In that game, Castro had one hit.
Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re going with Zach Eflin on Saturday. Across 76.2 innings and a 7-3 record this year, Eflin has a 3.64 ERA with 72 Ks and 18 BBs.
Philly’s big bat this season is Odubel Herrera, who brought 114 hits, 53 runs, 19 homers and 58 RBI into Friday. In game two, Herrera came up empty.
The Marlins are 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games and 7-15 in their last 22 in game three of a series. Miami is also 8-20 in Urena’s last 28 starts and 2-6 in his last eight road starts.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 9-4 in their last 13 in game three of a series and 1-4 in Eflin’s last five home starts versus a team with a losing record. Philly is also 1-7 in Eflin’s last eight starts versus a team with a losing record and the under is 6-0 in their last six Saturday games.
After a couple of rough starts (10 earned in 8.0 innings), Urena bounced back with one hit and no earned in 6.0 innings versus the Nats his last time up. Elfin, meanwhile, has given up 10 earned over his last 13.0 innings in three starts. I’m not super high on Eflin right now, so I have to go Marlins on a value pick here.
