The Line: Philadelphia Phillies +136 / New York Mets -146 --- Over/Under: 8
Coming up from Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies will be meeting up to continue their MLB series.
In the Friday game, the Mets scored three runs in the top of the ninth for a wild comeback victory 3-1.
For Saturday’s matchup, the Mets will be going with RHP Noah Syndergaard. In his 46.2 innings and 2-1 record this year, Syndergaard has a 3.09 ERA with 54 Ks and 10 BBs.
The Mets’ leading hitter coming into this set was Asdrubal Cabrera with 43 hits, 23 runs, six homers and 22 RBI. On Friday, Cabrera had two hits.
As for the Phillies, they’re hauling out Zach Eflin for the Saturday start. In 12.2 innings and a 1-0 mark this season, Eflin has a 0.71 ERA with 13 Ks and three walks.
Tops in hitting for the Phillies this season is Odubel Herrera, who came into this set with 47 hits, 22 runs, five homers and 23 runs. On Friday, Herrera logged a solo homer for the Phillies’ only run.
The Mets are 0-5 in their last five during game two of a series and 0-4 in their last four Saturday games. New York is also 1-5 in Syndergaard’s last six Saturday starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 8-2 in their last 10 during game two of a series and 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. Philly is also 2-9 in Eflin’s last 11 starts and 1-4 in his last five home starts.
Syndergaard has been on a pretty good run this year. He’s got four straight quality starts to his credit right now. As for Eflin, he’s had some choppy outings in his career but has given up just one earned in his last two starts. I’m going to go with Eflin to stay hot here and help the Phillies get a win.
