Philadelphia Phillies -150 / New York Mets +140 O/U: 10.5
The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies will meet up on the MLB diamond on Tuesday to continue their set.
In game one Monday, the Phillies ripped seven runs in a two-inning stretch on the way to a 13-7 victory.
For the Tuesday game, the Mets will be sending out Walker Lockett in the start. Over his 2.1 innings and 0-1 record this year, Locket has a 23.14 ERA with two Ks and one BB.
The Mets had a few solid hitting lines in the Monday loss. Michael Conforto managed a homer there, with three hits, two runs and two RBI.
Over on the Phillies’ side, they’re going with Jake Arrieta in the start Tuesday. Across 91.2 innings and a 6-6 record this year, Arrieta has a 4.12 ERA with 73 Ks and 37 BBs.
Jean Segura had a monster night for the Phillies on Monday. He finished 4-for-6 with a homer, two runs and two RBI.
The Mets are 8-2 in their last 10 Tuesday games and 20-8 in their last 28 in game two of a series. The over is 3-0-2 in New York’s last five in game two of a series and 45-19-6 in their last 70 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are 1-4 in their last five versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and the under is 9-4 in their last 13 in game two of a series. The under is 3-0-1 in Arrieta’s last four starts after a quality outing in his previous appearance and the over is 5-2 in his last seven home starts versus a team with a losing record.
Well, it’s safe to say that Lockett’s first outing this year didn’t go very well, but really he hasn’t found his groove in the Majors at all over five starts and he carried a 9.60 ERA last year.
As for Arrieta, he had a couple bad starts earlier this month but has given up just four earned in his last 12.0 innings. With the matchup here, I can’t find a lot of reasons not to pick the Mets.
