Down at Citizens Bank Park on Monday, the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies will be kicking off their MLB set.

The Yankees are coming off a weekend series against the Rays. New York lost the first pair of those games, then on Sunday the Yankees lost a 12-inning marathon 7-6.

For Monday’s game, the Yankees will be bringing out RHP Jonathan Loaisiga. In his 8.2 innings and 1-0 record this year, Loaisiga has a 3.12 ERA with 10 Ks.

Coming out of the week, the Yanks’ top hitter was Aaron Judge with 75 hits, 50 runs, 19 homers and 51 RBI. On Sunday, Judge was 0-for-5.

Over on the Phillies’ side, they just finished up against the Nationals. Philadelphia won the first two games of that set, then on Sunday the Phillies blew a late lead for an 8-6 loss.

Philadelphia is going with RHP Vincent Velasquez on Monday. Across 80.1 innings and a 5-7 record this season, Velasquez has a 4.82 ERA with 97 Ks.

The Phillies’ leading hitter this year is Odubel Herrera, coming out of the week with 85 hits, 39 runs, 13 homers and 43 RBI. On Sunday Herrera logged two hits, two RBI and a run.

The Yankees are 21-7 in their last 28 Monday games and 25-10 in their last 35 in game one of a series. The under is 16-5 in the Yankees’ last 21 in game one of a series and 7-0 in their last seven versus the NL East.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are 1-5 in Velasquez’s last six starts and 2-6 in his last eight starts in game one of a series. Philly is also 6-2 in their last eight versus the AL East and the over is 4-1 in the last five Monday games.

Back on June 8, Velasquez gave up 10 runs to the Brewers, but since then he’s ben solid in two starts. Over that pair, Velasquez took a no-hitter into the seventh inning versus Colorado and logged eight Ks in 6.1 innings versus the Cardinals. As for Loaisiga, the jury’s still out on him but he’s looked pretty good so far. Still, this might be a decent spot to take the Phillies as a value pick.
